Back in December was the last time we got any word on potentially seeing that cuddly green bastard SWAMP THING back on the big screen. Well it seems producer Joel Silver isn’t the only one that would like to bring the creature back…

While chatting it up with MTV recently, SPLICE director Vincenzo Natali let loose on his own vision of reimagining SWAMP THING:

“There are two incarnations of Swamp Thing — both of them are quite wonderful. The first one was by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, which was a more traditional sort of retake on classic, James Whale-style, Universal Studio horror films. Then Alan Moore reinvented the character in the early ’80s, and that’s actually the version that’s a little more interesting to me. [Swamp Thing] kind of became… I don’t want to call him an ecological superhero, but he became an ecological character quite unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. It’s a comic book, but it delves into some very interesting stuff, both psychological and philosophical.”

To see the interview for yourself just scroll below! So what do you guys think? Would you like to see Natali tackle SWAMP THING? The dude is turning heads everywhere he goes with SPLICE so it would definitely be intriguing if he set his sights on that beautiful green bastard sometime soon! I don’t know about the rest of you but I’d much rather see a smart version by Natali than a Summer tentpole 3D flick from Silver. You with me on this?

According to Natali: “It would be — if done properly — extraordinary.” The director is talking about a SWAMP THING film based on the Alan Moore series of comics from the 1980s, which is the story he’d want to translate. Extraordinary huh? Get on that Natali! We’ll keep our eyes and ears open for any other SWAMP THING rumblings but in the meantime hit us with some bullets below on what you think of this whole thing!
