Silver Surfer

Stan Lee pretty much confirmed a movie based on Black Panther was in the works while at the Comic Con in New York over the weekend and it may not have been something Marvel wanted revealed at the time but really are they going to try to tell Stan Lee what to do or say? I didn't think so.

MTV Geek caught up with Lee at the same Comic Con and asked him if there was a chance Silver Surfer could get his own movie. The character is one of Stan Lee's favorites and he said that with all the comic book adaptations in the works it's only a matter of time before Silver Surfer gets a standalone film:

Well, let me put it to you this way: Back at Marvel, they are frantically looking for what is the next one they’re going to do. There is no way they won’t eventually do a Silver Surfer movie. It may not be for a few years because they’re thinking and working on Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy. Everything we have. And the fans seem to want all of them. But they’ll get around to a Silver Surfer feature because he’s a wonderful character.

Marvel doesn't own the film rights to Silver Surfer so unfortunately he won't be a part of their cinematic universe. But it isn't hard to imagine Fox creating their own movie universe for the comic book properties they own such as the Fantastic Four and X-Men. I don't have nearly as much faith in Fox as I do Marvel when it comes to comic book movies at this point but if done right a film universe containing the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer could be spectacular. Just make sure Galactus isn't a f*cking cloud this time.
