Star Trek: Discovery featurette breaks down what to expect in season two

After a tumultuous pre-production period which saw co-creator Bryan Fuller departing and various other production issues, Star Trek: Discovery finally brought the long-running franchise back to television last year. Although Discovery received generally favorable reviews, there was obviously room for improvement, and I've got high hopes that the upcoming second season will find the series hitting the right notes. CBS have released a new Star Trek: Discovery featurette which dives into what we can expect from the new season, including using a more cinematic look (using a 2.40:1 aspect ratio over the first season's 2:1) while also making sure to put a focus on the more intimate character-driven moments. Check it out for yourself above!

The crew of Discovery will be teaming up with Captain Christoper Pike (Anson Mount) in the second season in order to investigate mysterious signals across the galaxy which follow the appearance of a being known as the Red Angel. Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) will also have to face her estranged step-brother, Spock (Ethan Peck), who has had a first-hand experience with the Red Angel.

The second season Star Trek: Discovery will debut on January 17, 2019.
