Star Wars Ahsoka welcomes Ivanna Sakhno to the cast

Star Wars Ahsoka, cast, Disney+, Ivanna Sakhno

It’s strange to think back to the introduction of Ahsoka Tano all those years ago. Fan reaction to Anakin Skywalker’s Jedi Padawan certainly wasn’t the greatest, but over time, Ahsoka developed into one of the more beloved characters of the franchise. She made the leap to live-action in The Mandalorian as played by Rosario Dawson, and it didn’t take long for Disney to announce that they were developing a spinoff series. Star Wars: Ahsoka is gearing up and Deadline has revealed the latest addition to the cast.

Deadline has reported that Ivanna Sakhno has joined the cast of Star Wars: Ahsoka alongside Rosario Dawson and Natasha Liu Bordizzo. Sakhno is best known for her roles in Pacific Rim: Uprising and The Spy Who Dumped Me and while it’s not known who she’ll be playing in Star Wars: Ahsoka, it’s said that it will be a newly created character. Rosario Dawson will naturally be reprising her role of Ahsoka, with Natasha Liu Bordizzo set to play Sabine Wren, the Mandalorian warrior who starred in Star Wars: Rebels. The series will also see Hayden Christensen returning as Anakin Skywalker. Production on Star Wars: Ahsoka is expected to get underway in March 2022, so we’ll probably see more additions to the cast in the coming months.

Dave Filoni, who is executive producing and writing the Ahsoka series, recently said that the writing process has been thrilling. “It’s something you imagine doing for a long time. And then it’s kind of startling when you’re sitting there, and now you have to do it,” Filoni said. “I thought of this adventure for Ahsoka for a long time, and it’s interesting to see how it’s evolved. Years ago, I never would have imagined that it was sprung from a branch of a tree that had anything to do with a guy [like] Din Djarin, or a child that looks like Yoda. It’s a great lesson for me on how, when you have other creatives like Jon Favreau, they can help lend such dimension and depth to what you’re doing.
