Hayden Christensen to play Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Ahsoka series

Ahsoka, Darth Vader, Star Wars, Hayden Christensen

We all know that Hayden Christensen has reprised his role of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader for the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, but we haven’t seen the last of the Dark Lord of the Sith on Disney+. THR has reported that Hayden Christensen has joined the cast of Star Wars: Ahsoka, where he will once again play Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, Ahsoka’s former master.

After Rosario Dawson made her first live-action appearance as Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian, Disney soon announced that they would be giving the character her own series. Much like The Mandalorian, Star Wars: Ahsoka will take place after the events of Return of the Jedi, which leads one to wonder just how Hayden Christensen will appear in the series. There could be flashbacks, which means that Christensen could easily play Anakin or Vader, or perhaps he could even pop up as a Force Ghost as he did in the Special Edition of Return of the Jedi. Either way, I’m excited that Christensen’s return to the Star Wars franchise won’t end with the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

Dave Filoni is writing the Ahsoka series and will also executive produce alongside Jon Favreau. Production is expected to kick off early 2022. Plot details for the series are being kept under wraps, but a few possible teases were dropped in The Mandalorian. The Ahsoka-centric episode found the former Jedi searching for the whereabouts of Grand Admiral Thrawn, who was last seen in Star Wars: Rebels being dragged through hyperspace into parts unknown alongside Ezra Bridger. Are you excited to see Hayden Christensen in the Ahsoka series?

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series takes place ten years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and stars Ewan McGregor as the Jedi Master. In addition to McGregor and Christensen, the series also stars Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals), Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit), Joel Edgerton (Boy Erased), Sung Kang (F9), Bonnie Piesse (The Vow), Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Rupert Friend (Homeland), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Simone Kessell (Reckoning), and Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems). The series will launch on Disney+ in 2022.
