Star Wars: The Force Awakens will not debut new trailer or clips at SDCC

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Unless they are keeping a massive secret from fans attending Comic Con in San Diego this weekend, Disney and Lucasfilm will not be unveiling a new trailer for J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS during the Hall H presentation on Friday. In fact, if Entertainment Weekly and their sources are correct, there will be no new footage of any kind on display at SDCC.

A weekend long schedule of panels and presentations was announced last month but it now appears that any footage showcased will be of the behind the scenes variety. It is still unknown which actors from STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS will be present at SDCC, but the sources claim there will be several actors who have yet to appear publicly in conjunction with the film.

If you want to know when new footage from the film will be revealed, it seems as if Disney will be saving that for their annual D23 convention in Anaheim in August with the next trailer not scheduled to debut until the fall. It is amazing just how much secrecy Abrams has managed to keep related to STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS but I am all for it. The ability to go into a film without any spoilers is unheard of in this day and age and there are few movies as special as STAR WARS that deserve secrecy.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS opens on December 18th.
