Only because I’m a football fan do I bring this up. I know most people who saw the new DARK KNIGHT RISES trailer took umbrage with the mumbling Bane. Not me. Nope, I was far more peeved about the football inaccuracy displayed by Nolan and his crew. What do I mean? Anyone who watches football knows a few things about Pittsburgh Steeler wide receiver Hines Ward. A.) Dude’s become a 3rd or 4th receiver, instead being far more relevant to “Dancing With the Stars” than with any actual Xs and Os of a ball game, and B). Dude hasn’t returned a kick in 10 f*ckin’ years. For someone usually so on point, I was a little disappointed in Nolan when I saw that.

Anyway, in case you’re interested, Mr. Ward spoke about his participation in the film to The L.A. Times. Here’s what he had to say:

“It blew me away. I mean to be a part of something that will last forever was amazing. I was truly blessed to be a part of it all….I hadn’t run back a kickoff in forever,” said Ward. “It was a little bizarre. But I scored on the return and any time I score it’s a lot of fun.”

Hell, SHOWGIRLS will last forever…it seems the true honor is getting to work with Nolan in such a quality piece of pop entertainment. Then again, those Super Bowls Hines has won will endure as well. I’m just glad he ‘fessed up and admitted he’s no kick returner. Antonio Brown should have landed the gig.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES opens July 20th.
