Stephen King hails It: Chapter Two as “terrific” after screening the sequel

It: Chapter Two, Pennywise, Stephen King

If you're already floating on thin air at the thought of a trailer for Andy Muschietti's IT: CHAPTER TWO emerging onto the internet this Thursday, you might want to sit down for this next bit.

After screening the film himself, It author and Master of Literary Horror, Stephen King, has alerted fans that he's watched the upcoming sequel and thinks it's "terrific." The New York Times Bestselling novelist said as much in a tweet earlier this morning, which you can see for yourself below:

In addition to giving the film his personal seal of approval, King also took a moment to remind fans that a trailer for Pennywise's foretold return to cinemas will rise from the well in a mere matter of days. Soon we'll all be floating alongside the killer clown, once again.

Here's the official synopsis for IT: CHAPTER TWO:

Twenty-seven years after the horrific events of the summer of 1989, It (Bill Skarsgård) returns. The Losers' Club fulfills their promises and returns to Derry to put an end to the shape-shifting beast once and for all.

Starring as the adult members of The Losers' Club are actors James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone, and Andy Bean. Meanwhile, Jaeden Lieberher, Wyatt Oleff, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Chosen Jacobs, and Jack Dylan Grazer are all expected to reprise their roles as the Losers' Club kids during the sequel's flashback sequences.

Gary Dauberman, who penned Muschietti's money-printing remake in 2017, will write the second chapter as well, with Barbara Muschietti, Dan Lin, and Roy Lee producing, while Marty Ewing, Seth Grahame-Smith, and David Katzenberg all serve as executive producers.

If you ask me, this bode's well for the follow-up to Muschietti's 2017 smash-hit, as in the past King has not always been an easy man to please with regard to film adaptations of his literary work. The fact that he's calling it "terrific" is indeed a credit to Muschietti and his team, who in my opinion have done a phenomenal job with the killer clown property. Truth be told, IT was my favorite film of 2017, and I am over-hyped for the upcoming sequel. I'll be there opening night for sure, as I'm positive many others will be as well.

Be sure to check back with us this Thursday for the IT: CHAPTER TWO trailer premiere. Meanwhile, the film is scheduled to float into theaters on September 6, 2019.
