Stephen King’s From a Buick 8 film has found a director in Jim Mickle!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Star Thomas Jane – who is no stranger to Stephen King adaptations, having starred in DREAMCATCHER and THE MIST – is producing a feature film adaptation of the beloved horror author's FROM A BUICK 8. Here's the official synopsis:

The book begins after a Pennsylvania state trooper is killed in a car accident, and his coworkers take turns relating the 20-year history of the mysterious Buick locked in their shed. The Buick seems to be a conduit to another reality and every now and then it breathes, inhaling a little bit of this world, exhaling a little bit of whatever world it came from.

Jane then went on the Kingcast to reveal that the film will be directed Jim Mickle (COLD IN JULY). Here's the snippet from the episode:

Do you guys know Jim Mickle? He’s pretty fucking good. We’ve signed Jim Mickle on. It is [exciting], and we’ve got a couple of fantastic writers that Jim has worked with in the past, and here”s the funny part: everybody was so excited and we had meetings all around town, but if you’ll recall, From a Buick 8 is essentially about a platoon of state troopers in Pennsylvania, right? When the pandemic hit and then the craziness with the riots and all that and the anti-police stuff hit, we were like, ‘Okay, maybe it’s not the best time to pitch a story about a platoon of Pennsylvania state troopers.

Meanwhile, due to Covid, there is no official start or release date, but we'll keep you informed of any updates!

So what do you think? Any fans of the book? If so, how do you feel about Mickle's work? Either way, sound off below!
