Have you ever wanted to stay the night at Stephen King’s mansion in Bangor, Maine? While that's kind of a creepy question, I'm sure most of us out there would still answer, yes. And that's good because today we have word that King and his wife Tabitha have asked that the house be rezoned as a non-profit, allowing it to put-up up to five writers at a time and showcase archives of King’s work.
One of the Bangor city councilors (with a killer last name), Ben Sprague says:
The King Family has been wonderful to the City of Bangor over time and have donated literally millions of dollars to various causes in the community. Preserving his legacy here in Bangor is important for this community.
A Bangor planning officer named David Gould added:
They did not want the house to become a Dollywood or some kind of tourist attraction. That would bring all sorts of people to the neighborhood, and they have other neighbors that live there.
We'll let you guys know as soon as we hear anything further on these plans to turn Stephen King's mansion in Bangor, Maine into a writer's retreat/museum. I don't know about you but I'm jumping at the chance to snag a room for the night. After all, a night in the Stephen King mansion fittingly sounds like the perfect setting for a horror story, am I right? Moo-Haha. What do you think? Let us know below!
