Stephen King’s Mr. Harrigan’s Phone will be adapted into a film for Netflix!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

THR reports that Blumhouse is teaming up with AMERICAN HORROR STORY's Ryan Murphy to adapt one of the short stories in Stephen King's recent horror anthology book IF IT BLEEDS (BUY IT NOW) called "MR. HARRIGAN'S PHONE" into a feature film for Netflix. THE FOUNDER's John Lee Hancock is currently attached to write and direct.

Here's the official synopsis:

The story follows a young boy who befriends an older billionaire who lives in his small-town neighborhood, and they bond over the man’s first iPhone. But when the man dies, the boy discovers that not everything dead is gone and finds himself able to communicate with his friend from the grave by leaving voicemails on the iPhone that was buried with him.

Sounds like it could be fun! With the recent success of the IT remake, HBO's THE OUTSIDERS, and the critical-acclaim for DOCTOR SLEEP, it makes sense that more King adaptations are continuing to pile up. Let's just hope this is more THE MIST and less MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE.

Meanwhile, no official release date announced as of yet, but we'll keep you posted!

So what do you guys think? Anybody read the short story? If so, what do you think about an upcoming adaptation from John Lee Hancock? Either way, sound off below!
