Back when the series Stranger Things made its Netflix debut – and instantly became a pop culture phenomenon – back in 2016, creators/showrunners Ross and Matt Duffer said they saw the show lasting for "four or five seasons". We have now reached season 4, which would be deep into production right now if it weren't for the pandemic. So when season 4 can be filmed and completed, will it be the last one?
Stranger Things fans can breathe a sigh of relief, because the Duffers have assured that we will be reaching the "five" of that "four or five" plan. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ross Duffer said,
Season four won't be the end. We know what the end is, and we know when it is. [The pandemic] has given us time to look ahead, figure out what is best for the show. Starting to fill that out gave us a better idea of how long we need to tell that story."
They also confirmed that the scripts for every episode of season 4 have been finished, as the production shutdown gave the writers
a lot more time to work on the scripts. For the first time, we have all the scripts written and we're able to look at it as a whole piece and make adjustments."

The season had been filming in Lithuania for a couple weeks, with filming also set to take place in Atlanta, when production had to shut down. While some movies and TV shows have recently started filming again, it's still not clear when filming will resume on Stranger Things.
Everyone's excited to get back to work, but the priority is the safety of the cast and crew, and that will dictate when we go back."
