This is very cool news for those of us who have a borderline unhealthy obsession with “The Twilight Zone”. I know for me personally it’s still the greatest show ever created, and even the worst episodes (and there are some pretty bad ones, let’s face it) are watchable, thanks mostly to that very special atmosphere only the Zone can provide.

The news is this: A Rod Serling biopic is in the works. While still untitled, it’s being written by WALL STREET co-writer Stanley Weiser and produced by Serling’s widow, Carol Serling, and Andrew Meieran from the Bureau of Moving Pictures.

“Rod Serling was one of the true visionaries in television history,” Meieran told Deadline.com. “He single-handedly broke the mold and established television as a powerful artistic medium capable of changing the world when used wisely.”

No further details on the biopic are available.

Aside from “The Twilight Zone”, Serling helped script multiple, important works for television and the silver screen, including “Night Gallery”, PLANET OF THE APES and REQUIEM FOR A HEAVYWEIGHT. He was really one of the greats – hell, still is. He died at the way-too-young age of 50.

There is also still a new TWILIGHT ZONE movie being prepared by producer Leonardo DiCaprio and writer Jason Rothenberg at Warner Bros.
