We normally don’t cover this kind of news here on The Arrow, but since it involves beloved horror writer Stephen King, I’d say it’s a keeper. That, and when you read it, you’ll either shite your pants laughing, or have a heart attack in disbelief.
James Richards, an inmate at Norfolk Corrections Detention Center in Massachusetts, who’s awaiting trial for making bomb threats to U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan, is suing Stephen King (and his publishers Simon & Schuster) for $10 Million bones for supposedly stealing his idea for the book-turned-movie THE GREEN MILE.
It gets better. Richards is asking that the publishers stop selling the book, and for Warner Bros. to stop broadcasting the film version on TV(!). Spokesman for Simon and Schuster has stated that “The plaintiff seems to have some credibility issues. We have every confidence that Green Mile springs from the evergreen and ever-growing imagination of Stephen King.”
Credibility issues? Are you flippin’ kiddin’ me? Yeah, I’d say this guy has some credibility issues, being in jail and all! The fact that he found some shmuck attorney to handle his case for him blows my mind. It’s laughable that it’s got as far as it has, but doesn’t it just piss ya off ? Ah, the justice system. Stay tuned as we find out just how this court case pans out (as if we don’t know already).
