No, ANIMAL KINGDOM is not some IMAX adaptation of a Discovery Channel special. Rather it’s a gritty Australian gangland drama that made it’s debut at Sundance last year. Our own Chris Bumbray gave it a perfect 10/10 back then, and called it the best film he saw at Sundance.
Well now a full length trailer has debuted for the film, which means Sony Pictures Classics is gearing up for a wider release date (although nothing is set in stone yet). ANIMAL KINGDOM tells the story of a teenager mixed up the family business of crime, and flips to testify against his own with the help of a straight edge detective played by Guy Pearce. Guy Pearce you say? Well, I’m on board already.
Watch the trailer and it’ll give you a taste of why everyone was singing its praises at Sundance. Hopefully we’ll see a US release soon if this garners enough buzz stateside.
