Supergirl conquers her fears in new Season 4 teaser trailer

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It's a bird! It's plane! Nope, it's another season of The CW's SUPERGIRL starring Melissa Benoist as the nigh-indestructible Maid of Might! The CW has unveiled a new teaser trailer for the upcoming fourth season of the superhero show, featuring some gnarly-looking, Predator-mouthed alien dude, a hammer that wishes it were as cool as Mjölnir, and our first look at Nicole Maines as Nia Nal. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the character, Nia Nal is said to be a passionate transgender woman with a burning desire to help those in need. In the show, Nia arrives as a fresh-to-the-bullpen reporter at Catco, who goes on to become Dreamer, TV's first transgender superhero. Maines' Dreamer made her 1988 debut in the pages of Adventure Comics #317 published by DC Comics, of course.

Speaking of firsts, DOOMSDAY and UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS actress Rhona Mitra will also be making her SUPERGIRL debut as Mercy Graves. According to DC lore, Graves arrives as a bodyguard for Lex Luthor, Supeman's sworn enemy and second place prize winner at Metropolis' annual Mr. Clean look-a-like contest. The character was first introduced as part of SUPERMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES, but has since moved on to become a nasty piece of work in the pages of DC Comics.

For all of you SMALLVILLE fans, David Bloome is also joining the show as Sam Witwer, otherwise known as the villain Agent Liberty. This golden-masked menace leads the Children of Liberty, an alien-hating organization that's bound to cause plenty of trouble for Kara and her friends.
