Superman & Lois adds Wolé Parks for villainous role of The Stranger

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

It's been announced via Deadline that Wolé Parks (THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, YELLOWSTONE) is joining the cast of SUPERMAN & LOIS, the CW's upcoming superhero series focusing on one of comic book history's most iconic couples. Parks will play The Stranger for the show, which some are speculating is the CW's new take on the Phantom Stranger, a mysterious DC figure with unspecified paranormal origins. According to the character's official description, Parks' The Stranger is a mysterious visitor hellbent on proving to the world that it no longer needs Superman.

SUPERMAN & LOIS hails from THE FLASH executive producer Todd Helbing, DC Universe mastermind Greg Berlanti and Warner Bros. TV. Written by Helbing, and based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, SUPERMAN & LOIS will star Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane, respectively. Joining Hoechlin, Tulloch and Parks for the superpowered drama are Emmanuelle Chriqui as Lana Lang, and Erik Valdez as Kyle Cushing, Lang's husband.

When SUPERMAN & LOIS takes flight, the show will explore the lives of DC's legendary couple, as they attempt to manage all the stress, responsibilities, and unknowns that come with being working parents in a fast-paced world. Originally, the plan was to shoot the pilot during the regular season, but you can bet that the coronavirus pandemic put a stop to that. As such, the show's 13-episode order will now charge headlong into series production as soon as the coast is clear.

For one of his more recent roles, Parks had contributed to 5 episodes-worth the sports drama ALL AMERICAN, as the character Micah Richards. According to the show's description, ALL AMERICAN shows what happens when a star high school football player from South Central is recruited to play for Beverly Hills High School. Needless to say, worlds collide.

What's your take on Parks coming onto SUPERMAN & LOIS as The Stranger? Do you think he's a different version of the DC Comics character created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino? Let us know what you suspect in the comments section below.
