Supernatural thriller Geechee snags Andrea Riseborough

First-time writer-director Dubois Ashong's supernatural thriller GEECHEE is all set to kick off production in early 2020. And today we learned that THE GRUDGE and MANDY star Andrea Riseborough will lead the cast of the film as Wren

a successful New York scientist who decides to leave the city with her son to start life over in the remote Sea Islands off the Atlantic Coast. She quickly falls in love with the land and the people on the secluded island, but soon her world starts to unravel as the souls of the subjugated begin to haunt her dreams and her waking life.

Producer Glendon Palmer said in regards to Riseborough's casting

From treatment to the script, Dubois has created a terrific supernatural thriller that is only elevated by the addition of the amazing Andrea Riseborough. 

Palmer will produce along with Stuart Ford while Jermaine Johnson and Luke Maxwell are on board as executive producers. As mentioned above, production on writer-director Dubois Ashong's supernatural thriller GEECHEE starring Andrea Riseborough is all set to kick off production in early 2020.

Riseborough can be seen next alongside Lin Shaye, John Cho, and Demian Bichir in CRAWL producer Sam Raimi and THE EYES OF MY MOTHER director Nicolas Pesce's remake of THE GRUDGE. The remake just earned an R rating from the MPAA for "disturbing violence and bloody images, terror and some language" and is heading toward a theater near you on January 3, 2020. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think!
