We haven’t heard about SWEATSHOP in a year, but word is out that it will hit DVD on September 13. Check out the cover art below, along with the previously released trailer. Screen Media Films will release the flick unrated. Co-writer/producer Ted Geoghegan explains:

“The film is being released unrated. It was submitted to the MPAA three weeks ago, and was given an NC-17 rating for ‘Disturbing sadistic horror violence, nudity and language.’ Since most stores will not carry NC-17 films but now carry unrated titles, Screen Media has officially decided to release the film uncut and unrated.”

Special features on the disc include a commentary track by director/co-writer Stacy Davidon, Geoghegan and associate producer John Torrani, “Sweatshop: Hide and Shriek” motion comic and photo and art galleries. The indie flick stars Ashley Kay (below), Peyton Wetzel, Melanie Donihoo, Julin and Danielle Jones.

Charlie and her friends break into an abandoned warehouse and begin setting up an impromptu party. Unbeknownst to them, something lurks in this dark place… a presence so horrific, so monstrous, it has no name. Fueled by uncontrollable, unprovoked rage, this Beast knows only one thing – Charlie and her companions chose the wrong building, and they’re about to pay for it.
