Switchboard: The Batman’s Matt Reeves producing 1940s serial killer film

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Armaan Zorace has formed a production banner called Dark Hell with the intention of producing horror and other genre films, and as part of that plan Dark Hell is teaming with Steven Schneider, Picture Films' Margot Hand and Joshua Thurston, and The Batman director Matt Reeves to produce a period horror film called Switchboard. Reeves will be producing alongside Rafi Crohn, through their company 6th & Idaho.

Based on a spec script written by actor-turned-screenwriter Devon Graye (probably best known for playing the teenage version of Dexter), Switchboard will be set in the late 1940s and follow

a young female switchboard operator who finds herself communicating with, and possibly targeted by, an active serial killer. As their conversation intensifies, she begins to question her safety, her sanity and, ultimately, her very reality.

Graye previously wrote the Helen Hunt thriller I See You, and has a project called Allison Adams set up at Sony.

It's early days for Switchboard, but we'll keep you updated as it moves forward. This sounds interesting to me, and earns extra points for the fact that Switchboard is one letter off from the title of one of my favorite '80s horror movies, Witchboard.
