SyFy gives pilot order to Dominion, based on 2010 film Legion

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It was almost 18 months ago when we first heard rumblings of SyFy attempting to develop a TV series based on the 2010 Paul Bettany-starring film LEGION, and today we have word that the project is moving forward under the title "Dominion", with LEGION director/co-writer Scott Stewart helming the pilot, according to Deadline.

Dominion is described as an epic supernatural action drama set 25 years in the future after a war between an army of angels and mankind has transformed the world. It follows the perilous journey of a rebellious young soldier who discovers he’s the unlikely savior of humanity.

Bold Films, which produced the movie for Screen Gems, is co-producing with Universal Cable Prods. Stewart and Bold’s Michel Litvak and David Lancaster executive produce, with Vaun Wilmott, who is writing the script for the pilot, set to co-executive produce.

This news follows word that SyFy is also working on a series based on Terry Gilliam's 12 MONKEYS (which we told you about earlier this week). There's no doubt that a successful series can be born out of a film – just look at NBC's "Hannibal" and A&E's "Bates Motel" for recent examples – so we'll be keeping a close eye on "Dominion" and "12 Monkeys" with high hopes.
