Syfy is developing a reboot of Rod Serling’s Night Gallery

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The Twilight Zone is one of my favourite TV shows of all-time, but despite my love for Rod Serling's acclaimed series, I never bothered to check out his other anthology series. Night Gallery aired on NBC from 1969-1973 and put more of a focus on supernatural and horror rather than science-fiction. Much like The Twilight Zone, Night Gallery was hosted by Rod Serling as he introduced each segment by unveiling a painting or sculpture which illustrated the story you were about to see.

With The Twilight Zone getting the reboot treatment over at CBS courtesy of Jordan Peele (GET OUT), I suppose it's only natural that Night Gallery should follow suit. Deadline has reported that Syfy has landed a "re-imagination" of Night Gallery and have set Jeff David (Teen Wolf) and David Janollari (Midnight, Texas) with developing the potential series. It's been said that the Night Gallery reboot will "update the series for the digital age" and feature "dark and twisted morality tales paired with Serling's specific brand of irony" as they "explore and exploit every modern nightmare imaginable, mining our fears of the dangers of social media." Fun fact, one segment of the Night Gallery pilot film was directed by a very young Steven Spielberg.

Any Night Gallery fans out there excited for this possible revival?

As for The Twilight Zone, that particular revival series is already in production up in Vancouver, British Columbia and will consist of ten-episodes which will debut on CBS All Access next year. Many of the details are being kept under wraps, but we do know that Sanaa Lathan, Adam Scott, Kumail Nanjiani, John Cho, Allison Tolman, and Jacob Tremblay will all have roles in various episodes.
