Syfy is going to take you to Harrow County

Rebecca Kirsch has worked as a writer and producer on Syfy's LEGION spin-off Dominion and their series extrapolation on TWELVE MONKEYS, and now the network has hired her to write a new project for them – an adaptation of the Dark Horse comic book Harrow County.

Written by Cullen Bunn and illustrated by Tyler Crook, the story of Harrow County centers on

Emmy, who has always known that the deep, dark woods surrounding her home crawled with ghosts, goblins, and the restless dead. On the eve of her 18th birthday, she learns that she is connected to these creatures and to the land itself in a way she never imagined, for she is the reincarnation of a powerful witch who was put to death on the very day Emmy was born. For this reason, the townsfolk mean to kill her too. In order to survive, Emmy must embrace the unusual powers at her command.

I had never heard of Harrow County before this announcement, but a Google search quickly led me to io9, where they are officially hosting the first issue in its entirety. After looking that issue over, it's clear to me that Syfy has gotten their hands on a property that has some great horror potential. Here's hoping that the live action adaptation will live up to the imagery on those pages.
