Independence Day scribe says Mac/PC plothole in first film will be explained in the sequel

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Earlier this month INDEPENDENCE DAY scribe Dean Devlin was opening up a bit about the long-awaited sequel to the hit sci-fi flick. You guys remember that? He was talking about how he and director Roland Emmerich were finally working together once again to get this sequel moving.

Well today Devlin is at it again, this time talking to the guys over at Crave Online. What did the screenwriter have to say today? Check it:

“We will finally address the Mac/PC alien computer issue in the sequel.”

For those that don’t remember, at the end of the original film Captain Stephen Hiller (Will Smith) and David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) flew to the mothership and uploaded a computer virus that would neutralize the invading armada’s shields, using only Levinson’s laptop to access the aliens’ operating system. Since the film was released there’s been a fan outcry regarding this.

So there you go folks! For all you people out there that were bothered by that Mac/PC plothole you’ll finally get some closure in INDEPENDENCE DAY 2.

Unfortunately there’s not telling when things will officially get rolling on ID4 2 but you can bet we’ll be right here to keep you in the know every step of the way.
