The first teaser poster for director Sam Raimi’s OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL has arrived, which features a number of images reminiscent of the world created by author Frank L. Baum. The prequel to the classic WIZARD OF OZ focuses on the Wizard himself, Oz, as played by James Franco, documenting his journey to the magical land and subsequent rise to ruling it.

The film also stars Michelle Williams as Glinda, Mila Kunis as Theodora, Rachel Weisz as Evanora, and Zach Braff as, uh, Frank. Given that we haven’t seen, well, anything from the film so far, it’s hard to judge based on a poster alone. Talentwise, the film has the goods, so that’s a definite bonus. Raimi will be on hand at Comic Con next week to discuss the film, so expect a teaser trailer at the minimum.
OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL clicks its heels into theaters on March 8, 2013.
