Anthology film Tales from the Hood 3 has earned an R rating, stars Tony Todd

Twenty-three years passed between the release of the 1995 horror anthology TALES FROM THE HOOD (watch it on Amazon) and its first sequel, but franchise masterminds Rusty Cundieff and Darin Scott aren't letting nearly as much time pass between TALES FROM THE HOOD 2 (which you can also watch on Amazon) and a third installment in the series. In fact, TALES FROM THE HOOD 3 has already been filmed – and it has even gotten its rating from the MPAA.

TALES FROM THE HOOD 3 is Rated R for horror violence, disturbing images, sexual content, and language including racist epithets.

Cundieff and Scott wrote and directed the new film together. There's no word on what stories will be told this time, but Tony Todd, Lynn Whitfield, and Cooper Huckabee are believed to be in the cast.

The original TALES FROM THE HOOD had the following synopsis:

Horror meets the hood in this tale of three young street thugs who visit the mortuary in search of a lost drug stash and end up hearing four terrifying stories from the creepy mortician, intent on deterring them from a life of crime.

The first film starred Clarence Williams III as Mr. Simms, a mortuary owner who told the stories that made up the film. Keith David took over as Mr. Simms in part 2, but it hasn't been confirmed whether or not he reprises the role in part 3.

TALES FROM THE HOOD 3 is coming from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. A release date has not yet been announced.
