I have previously given you a sneak peek at the graverobbing horror-comedy I SELL THE DEAD here, and now I give you one more: Angus Scrimm rockin’ a violin!
PHANTASM’s Tall Man, who is playing an unhinged doctor, told Fangoria that he learned how to play the stringed instrument just for the flick! “My character is an English physician in this Irish city who buys the corpses that the graverobbers exhume. I believe he’s English because I told Peter [producer Peter Phok] that I didn’t think I could do a really convincing Irish dialect. I also play the violin in this film, so I had to take violin lessons, and taking dialect lessons at the same time might have been a bit time-consuming!”
Try taking surfing lessons while simultaneously learning the art of the harmonica – now THAT’S a challenge, my friend! ( I haven’t actually done this, I’m just assuming..)
Director Glenn McQuaid has just finished production – with the exception of a few scenes with Ron Perlman, who’s obviously off filming HELLBOY 2.
“…we’re basically holding off until November, when Ron becomes free again, and then shooting a four-day self-contained scene with Ron and Dominic in the cell. But I’ve already started editing, and between now and when we get Ron and Dominic [Monaghan] together, I want the project as finished as possible so that when we finish in November or December, we can slide those scenes in, so it’s not holding us up so much.”
Sounds like a plan to me. I like this project – seems like fun in an old-fashioned, Hammer Horror way (though don’t forget that those Hammer flicks were sick little numbers in their own right).
