Teaser released for Jason Reitman’s new Ghostbusters film

Ghostbusters

Last night the surprise announcement hit that GHOSTBUSTERS and GHOSTBUSTERS II director Ivan Reitman's son Jason Reitman will be directing a new GHOSTBUSTERS sequel that is a follow-up to his father's films, not connected to Paul Feig's 2016 reboot. This announcement was surprising not only because the project was put together in secret, but also because this sort of movie is something very different for the younger Reitman, who up to this point has focused on making low-key dramas and comedies like JUNO, UP IN THE AIR, and last year's releases TULLY and THE FRONT RUNNER. But, Reitman had an idea set in the world his father helped create, and he's ready to do some of his own ghost busting.

Now comes another surprise: a teaser has already been shot for Jason Reitman's GHOSTBUSTERS and has been released online.

The film hasn't even started production yet, so of course there isn't a whole lot to go on in this teaser, but it is a cool and atmospheric minute that shows the return of some GHOSTBUSTERS iconography and promises we'll be seeing the new movie in summer 2020.

Jason Reitman has written the screenplay for the new GHOSTBUSTERS with MONSTER HOUSE's Gil Kenan. Plot details are being kept under wraps and it's not clear how the original movies' surviving cast members will be involved, but it is known that Reitman is seeking to cast the roles of four important teenagers – two boys and two girls.

We'll let you know when more information is shared about this project, which I think is really exciting and cool.
