Just yesterday we shared a poster for director Osgood Perkins' upcoming horrific fairy tale adaptation GRETEL & HANSEL, and now a teaser trailer for the film has arrived online. The marketing for this one has begun at the perfect time, since the titular Gretel is played by IT star Sophia Lillis, who will be seen on the big screen in this weekend's release IT: CHAPTER TWO.

Working from a screenplay by Rob Hayes, Perkins intended to make his film "awfully faithful" to the Brothers Grimm fairy tale Hansel and Gretel. The film tells the following story:

Gretel and her younger brother leave home during a time of pestilence and famine. On their travels they encounter a kindly huntsman before finding solace in the home of an elderly woman whose motives may not be altogether pure.

Lillis is joined in the cast by Sammy Leakey, Charles Babalola, and Alice Krige.

Produced by Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger of Automatik Entertainment, GRETEL & HANSEL is set to reach theatres on January 31, 2020. Judging by the teaser, it looks quite promising.
