There are a lot of kids’ movies that are simply terrible. Sometimes it’s hard not to judge a film aimed at children as an adult, but most of them are pure shit. I think part of it is as you get older you get nostalgic about the films you watched as a kid and the ones you get dragged to now by your children pale in comparison to the movies you remember from your youth.
CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS was better than most kid flicks and did a decent job of turning a picture book into a full-length film, which is not the easiest of tasks. Sony Pictures Animation has released a featurette for the sequel CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2 that has Terry Crews getting his science on. Crews is one of the new cast members (he replaced Mr. T as the voice of Earl Devereaux) and in the featurette he shares some “never before seen footage” from his trip to Swallow Falls. There are some fantastic puns (or cringe worthy depending on how you feel about puns) for the names of the new food creatures that lurk around the island and Terry Crews looks like he’s having a lot of fun in the video. With most of the main cast returning (Bill Hader, Anna Faris, James Caan, Andy Samberg, Neil Patrick Harris) and some good additions like Terry Crews and Kristen Schaal, CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2 should be a fun movie to go to with your kid that won’t make you want to go home and pound a bottle of Orloff.
