Last Updated on July 30, 2021

For those that don't know, Tobe Hooper's macabre masterpiece (cue John Larroquette voice) THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE starring Marilyn Burns and Gunnar Hansen is getting an all-new reboot from DON'T BREATHE and EVIL DEAD director Fede Alvarez. And today we've learned that the reboot has snagged its directors in the form of THE DIG filmmaking team Ryan and Andy Tohill.

Alvarez said in a statement:

The Tohill’s vision is exactly what the fans want. It’s violent, exciting and so depraved that it will stay with you forever.

Plot details are being kept under wraps but we do know that Chris Thomas Devlin is penning the script which Alvarez and Sayagues will produce.

The Tohill’s first feature film, THE DIG premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh in 2018, winning Best Irish feature before being accepted at the Toronto International Film Festival, and scoring a nomination at the British Independent Film Awards. STREAM IT HERE.

The original film began when

Sally (Marilyn Burns) hears that her grandfather's grave may have been vandalized, she and her paraplegic brother, Franklin (Paul A. Partain), set out with their friends to investigate. After a detour to their family's old farmhouse, they discover a group of crazed, murderous outcasts living next door. As the group is attacked one by one by the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface (Gunnar Hansen), who wears a mask of human skin, the survivors must do everything they can to escape.
