Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot snags first-time screenwriter

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

For those that might not know, POLTERGEIST director Tobe Hooper's macabre masterpiece (cue John Larroquette voice) THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE starring Marilyn Burns and Gunnar Hansen is getting an all-new reboot from DON'T BREATHE and EVIL DEAD director Fede Alvarez. And today we've learned that the reboot has snagged a screenwriter in the form of newcomer Chris Thomas Devlin.

Again, this looks to be Devlin's first outing as a screenwriter so I guess we'll just have to cross our fingers and have faith that Alvarez and his team behind the scenes know what they're doing. I have faith. Do you? Let us know below!

The original film began when

Sally (Marilyn Burns) hears that her grandfather's grave may have been vandalized, she and her paraplegic brother, Franklin (Paul A. Partain), set out with their friends to investigate. After a detour to their family's old farmhouse, they discover a group of crazed, murderous outcasts living next door. As the group is attacked one by one by the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface (Gunnar Hansen), who wears a mask of human skin, the survivors must do everything they can to escape.

THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE was directed by Tobe Hooper from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Kim Henkel. Hooper also produced the film which starred Marilyn Burns, Paul A. Partain, Edwin Neal, Jim Siedow, and Gunnar Hansen as Leatherface. Bryanston Distributing Company unleashed the film on unsuspecting audiences way back on October 11, 1974. BUY IT HERE.
