The Batman delayed until 2022, The Matrix 4 moves forward into 2021

Yesterday, Warner Bros. announced that they had pushed the release of Denis Villeneuve's DUNE back from December 18, 2020 to October 1, 2021 (which may have been a relief for Villeneuve, since he said it would be a "sprint" to try to get the movie ready for the December date after production was shut down by the pandemic). Given that Warner Bros. already had THE BATMAN scheduled to come out on October 1, 2021, it immediately became apparent that Batman would be moving to make room for DUNE. Now the studio has confirmed it.

In the midst of shuffling the release dates of nearly all of their upcoming major releases, which was necessary due to the delays caused by the ongoing pandemic, Warner Bros. has moved THE BATMAN to March 4, 2022. This is the third release date for the film; if all had gone according to the original plan, if there was no pandemic, THE BATMAN would have been reaching theatres on June 25, 2021.

Directed by Matt Reeves, THE BATMAN stars Robert Pattinson, Paul Dano, Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell, and Jeffrey Wright. The synopsis:

Set during his second year of crime-fighting, Batman takes on The Riddler, Catwoman, and The Penguin in this dark new take on The Dark Knight.

Of all the new release dates Warner Bros. has announced, only one film has been scheduled to reach theatres sooner than its previous date. Director Lana Wachowski's THE MATRIX 4 has moved forward from April 1, 2022 to December 22, 2021

That one doesn't have an official synopsis, but we know that it stars Keanu Reeves,  Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, Neil Patrick Harris, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Eréndira Ibarra, Jonathan Groff, Andrew Caldwell, Ellen Hollman, Brian J. Smith, Max Riemelt, Chris Sean Reid, and Daniel Bernhardt.
