After racking up more than a decade of acting credits, Angela Gulner – who has been in the genre films Take Back the Night, Dead in the Water, and The Summoned, as well as a season 3 episode of the Netflix series GLOW – is making her feature directorial debut with the psychological horror thriller The Beldham, which is currently filming in Oklahoma. Deadline reports that The Beldham stars Patricia Heaton of Everybody Loves Raymond and The Middle, as well as Corbin Bernsen (City on a Hill), Katie Parker (The Midnight Club), Emma Fitzpatrick (The Collection), and Hannah Reese (Baby Money).

Described as being “about mother-daughter relationships”, The Beldham sees Heaton taking on the role of Sadie, a fierce caregiver determined to protect her family from a monstrous presence that threatens to tear them all apart.

Gulner wrote the screenplay for the film and is producing it with Mark Meir for Wicked Myth Films, alongside Randy Wayne and Talia Bella of Thunderbird Films.

Looking over Heaton’s filmography, it appears that The Beldham is the first horror project she has ever worked on. She is best known for playing the role of Debra Barone on 210 episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond (plus an episode of King of Queens). After Everybody Loves Raymond wrapped up its nine season run in 2005, she took the lead in the show The Middle, which also ran for nine seasons, allowing her to play the role of Frankie Heck for 215 episodes. The year after The Middle ended, Heaton got another lead role in a series – Carol’s Second Act. Sadly, Carol’s Second Act only lasted one season.

Does The Beldham sound interesting to you? Let us know by leaving a comment below. I haven’t seen a large number of Everybody Loves Raymond episodes and have seen even less of The Middle, but I have watched an episode here and there and I am intrigued by the idea of a horror movie that shows the mom from those series dealing with a monstrous presence. So I will definitely be giving The Beldham a chance when it makes its way out into the world.
