The Blob remake hits Blu-ray via Scream Factory this Halloween

It's about time. Today it looks like our buddies over at Scream Factory have announced that they will be bringing A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3: THE DREAM WARRIORS director Chuck Russell’s classic 1988 remake of THE BLOB starring Kevin Dillon and Shawnee Smith to Collector’s Edition Blu-ray this Halloween.

Here are the early details we know at this point in time. have a current time to share. This will be presented as a Collector’s Edition and will come guaranteed with a slipcover in its first three months of release. The newly commissioned artwork pictured comes to us from Joel Robinson (Candyman, 10 to Midnight, In the Mouth of Madness) and his art will be front-facing and the reverse side of the wrap will feature the original theatrical artwork.

Based on Irvin Yeaworth's 1958 horror monster movie starring Steve McQueen, this 1988 version of THE BLOB begins:

In a tiny California town where high school students Brian (Kevin Dillon), Meg (Shawnee Smith) and Paul (Donovan Leitch) discover a strange, gelatinous substance that melts the flesh of any living creatures in its path. The deadly substance gets into the town's sewer system, where it begins growing uncontrollably, occasionally emerging to feast on unsuspecting townspeople. A military clean-up crew is sent to eliminate the menace, but it may end up doing more harm than good.

Chuck Russell directed this version of THE BLOB from a screenplay he wrote along with Frank Darabont based on a story by Irving H. Millgate and the original film by Theodore Simonson and Kay Linaker. Jack H. Harris and Elliott Kastner produced this remake which starred Kevin Dillon, Shawnee Smith, Donovan Leitch, Candy Clark, Joe Seneca, and Jeffrey DeMunn. Chuck Russell's remake of THE BLOB will be eating its way Collector's Edition Blu-ray via Scream Factory just in time for Halloween on October 15, 2019.
