The Hulu streaming service has unveiled a full trailer for their thriller series The Clearing, starring Teresa PalmerThe Hulu streaming service has unveiled a full trailer for their thriller series The Clearing, starring Teresa Palmer

A couple weeks ago, the Hulu streaming service unveiled a teaser trailer for their upcoming eight-part psychological thriller series The Clearing, which is set to premiere with two episodes on May 24. With the premiere date now just three weeks away, the streamer has released a full trailer for the show, and you can check it out in the embed above.

Based on the best-selling crime novel In the Clearing by author J.P. Pomare and said to be “inspired by the darkness of real-life cults in Australia and around the world“, The Clearing is an emotional and psychological thriller that follows the nightmares of a cult and a woman who’s forced to face the demons from her past in order to stop the kidnapping and coercion of innocent children in the future. The series burrows under the skin and inside the mind, blurring the lines between past and present, reality and nightmare in a truly unnerving way

The series stars Teresa Palmer (Lights Out), Miranda Otto (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), and Guy Pearce (Memento). Also in this “stellar line-up of Australian talent” are Hazem Shammas (Safe Harbour), Mark Coles-Smith (Mystery Road), Kate Mulvany (The Twelve), and Julia Savage (Mr. Inbetween).

Pomare’s In the Clearing (pick up a copy HERE) had the following description: Four days to go. Amy has only ever known life in the Clearing, amidst her brothers and sisters – until a newcomer, a younger girl, joins the “family” and offers a glimpse of the outside world. Three days to go. Freya is going to great lengths to seem like an “everyday mum”, even as she maintains her isolated lifestyle, hoping to protect her young son and her dog. Two days to go. When news breaks of a missing girl – a child the same age as Freya’s son, Billy – Amy and Freya find themselves headed for a shocking collision. One day to go.

Created and written by Elise McCredie and Matt Cameron, and co-written by Osamah Sami, The Clearing was directed by Jeffrey Walker and Gracie Otto.

Following the two episode premiere, the remaining six episodes will be released on a weekly basis, with a new episode arriving on Hulu every Wednesday.
