The Curse teaser trailer finds Emma Stone and Nathan Fielder sharing unique ways to extinguish fires

The Curse teaser trailer finds Emma Stone, Nathan Fielder, and Benny Safdie starring in a strange house-flipper comedy series.

Whitney (Emma Stone) and Asher (Nathan Fielder) have a lot on their plate. In addition to launching a house-flipping series on an HGTV-like network and trying to have a baby, their new venture is seemingly cursed, making life difficult on several fronts. The Curse teaser trailer finds the couple filming an intro to their new show, telling their audience, “you can put out fires with the sun.” Whitney and Asher can’t wait to share this intriguing method of extinguishing fires with the Española Fire Department and show them how a few tiny changes to their fire station can make passive energy the newest recruit on their squad. Any questions? I have a few.

The Curse premieres on November 10 via Paramount+ with Showtime before its on-air Showtime debut on November 12.

Joining Stone and Fielder for the genre-bending series is Benny Safdie, who plays Dougie, the producer of Whitney and Asher’s “Flipanthropy” show. While Dougie keeps secrets from the couple, an alleged curse threatens to disrupt the couple’s relationship. Academy Award nominee Barkhad Abdi, Emmy nominee Corbin Bernsen, and Constance Shulman star as primary cast members.

The first three episodes of The Curse will debut at the New York Film Festival, running from September 29 to October 15. The series is a co-production of Showtime and A24. Fielder and Safdie are co-creators and executive producers courtesy of their Elara studio. Fielder acts as a director, with Stone executive producing with Dave McCary and Ali Herting.

What type of curse do you think Whitney and Asher encounter? Will they be haunted by malevolent spirits or the victims of bad luck? What if Dougie is scamming them behind the scenes? Could fanatics disagree with their home repair tactics? We’ll find out soon enough when The Curse comes to Paramount+ and Showtime in the coming weeks. I imagine house-flipper fans will eat this series up with a fork and knife, especially with the comedic talents of Stone, Fielder, and Safdie leading the charge.
