The CW delaying new episodes of Supergirl & Batwoman to a later date

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Supergirl and Batwoman become the latest CW series' to adjust their airing schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The two shows were expected to show new episodes last night but The CW has decided to delay them to a later date that has not been determined yet.

Much like what has been done with The Flash, Supernatural & Legacies, The CW is trying to space out new episodes of both shows because they had to abruptly go dark before completing their current seasons due to the coronavirus. It was already announced that the season 6 finale of The Flash would be delayed and that newer episodes will air some time later in 2020 while Legacies is made episode 16 its season finale on March 26. The final season of Supernatural, which had two more episode to shoot, is also going on hiatus while The CW figures out when they'll be able to shoot again and air its final episodes.

Supergirl and Batwoman won't be back for a bit because The CW will be re-airing the crossover event "Crisis on Infinite Earths" beginning on April 6. It's feasible that new episodes could return during the second week of April but the network hasn't made a solid decision on that just yet.

The CW seems to be one of the only networks trying to make the abrupt end to shooting on their shows seem as seamless as possible with what is currently airing on the network. They don't want to run out of new episodes too early and likely are trying to get most of their shows to air into May. This is honestly a wait and see kind of thing for all the major networks and The CW is no stranger to taking substantial breaks with re-runs so it shouldn't be too different as they try to navigate the current state off affairs.

When do YOU think we'll see new episodes of these shows again? Supergirl and Batwoman air Sundays on The CW.
