The end is the beginning in new trailer for The Walking Dead: World Beyond

Close to a decade after its debut, The Walking Dead franchise is bigger than ever, with the main series (finally) concluding its tenth season later this year; Fear the Walking Dead entering its sixth season; as well as the debut of another spin-off series – The Walking Dead: World Beyond. A fresh trailer for the new series debuted during its virtual Comic-Con panel, which shows off a different glimpse into life during the zombie apocalypse. The series focuses on "the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse as we know it. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad." Lovin' that bee-filled zombie.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly earlier this year, The Walking Dead chief content officer Scott M. Gimple explained what makes World Beyond different from the other shows in the franchise. "The first one is really the situation with which the characters have been living in, relatively, a first-world situation," Gimple said. "Relatively. Because it's focusing on young people, even the 'adults' in this are on the younger side, they've more or less grown up with this. There's a certain everydayness of this to them, though they've been behind walls. It's a very big deal for these characters to leave these walls…. It's an incredible act of bravery for some of these people to potentially step out into the world." Unlike the other shows in the franchise, World Beyond is only designed to last two seasons, which certainly piques my interest.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond will debut on AMC on October 4, 2020, immediately following the tenth season finale of the flagship series.
