I dug the Pang Brothers’ original THE EYE, which had some genuine trouser-trashing frights. Early reports claimed the American remake deviated significantly from the Hong Kong version, but now it seems the new spooker retains the best parts of what made the first one work. And it adds the best parts of Jessica Alba.
The movie involves a blind girl whose ocular transplants come customized with nifty filters that allow her to see terrifying visions of the dead. Hey, you know what they say about health care in this country…
