Deadline has reported that Emily Blunt will star alongside Ryan Gosling in The Fall Guy, a feature adaptation of the classic 1980s series of the same name.

David Leitch will direct The Fall Guy, and will also produce alongside Kelly McCormick through their 87North production banner. The script was penned by Drew Pearce, who worked with Leitch on Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. The Fall Guy series was created by Glen A. Larson and ran from 1981 to 1986 on ABC. Lee Majors starred as Colt Seavers, a Hollywood stunt man who moonlit as a bounty hunter. Using his physical skills and knowledge of stunt effects, he travelled around the country capturing fugitives and criminals. It’s not known who Emily Blunt will be playing in the movie, but pairing her up with Ryan Gosling sounds like it could be a lot of fun. Production on The Fall Guy is expected to begin in Australia this fall, and Universe Pictures have already slated the film for a March 1, 2024 release.

David Leitch recently spoke with Collider about The Fall Guy. “It’s about a stuntman who gets embroiled in some crazy drama outside of the movie business, and mayhem ensues,” Leitch said. “And so, there’s fun and action, and we’re trying to make a big summer movie with it. And Universal’s incredibly supportive, and Ryan’s been really collaborative on the material, and we’re starting shooting in October. And so, we’re in pre-production right now.” Emily Blunt will next be seen starring in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. The star-studded movie follows J. Robert Oppenheimer during the Manhattan Project and the creation of the atomic bomb. In addition to Blunt, Oppenheimer stars Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Rami Malak, Josh Hartnett, Kenneth Branagh, and more. Ryan Gosling most recently starred in The Gray Man alongside Chris Evans and Ana de Armas. The action thriller directed by the Russo Brothers is now streaming on Netflix, and you can check out a review from our own Chris Bumbray right here.
