Jack O’Connell has confirmed that he and Cillian Murphy will play brothers in A Quiet Place Part III, revealing a new family connection in John Krasinski’s upcoming sequel to the sci-fi horror franchise. The news came during an exclusive interview with Collider at the Newport Beach Film Festival, where O’Connell discussed the film and the enduring popularity of horror movies.
Speaking with Collider’s Aidan Kelley, O’Connell reflected on joining the A Quiet Place universe alongside Murphy, Emily Blunt, and Krasinski.
“A Quiet Place was, that felt like family. It’s about family, obviously. Got John Krasinski and Emily Blunt involved, and Cillian and I play brothers. There was a real familial feel to that one. It was cool, man. But horror’s popping off. People are turning out for horror. So it’s great. Yeah, it’s amazing.”

Murphy’s character, Emmett, was introduced in A Quiet Place Part II. After losing his wife and children during the alien invasion, Emmett had become an isolated, grieving survivor. He initially resisted helping Evelyn Abbott (Blunt) and her children, but eventually risked his life to help them survive. Now, A Quiet Place Part III will introduce a previously unconfirmed family connection between Emmett and O’Connell’s character. How that relationship fits into the story remains to be seen.
A Quiet Place Part III Brings Back Cillian Murphy and Emily Blunt
Writer, director, and producer John Krasinski is returning to helm A Quiet Place Part III, continuing the story established in his first two films. Blunt and Murphy are returning alongside Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, while O’Connell joins the cast with Jason Clarke and Katy O’Brian.
O’Connell has become a familiar face to horror fans thanks to his roles in Sinners and the 28 Years Later films. He also has Godzilla x Kong: Supernova coming soon. During the same Collider interview, he described that production, which reunited him with Sinners‘ Delroy Lindo, as “a hoot, a lot of fun.”
When Does A Quiet Place Part III Come Out?
A Quiet Place Part III is scheduled to arrive in theatres on July 30, 2027. Filming took place in New York, with Krasinski directing and producing through Sunday Night Productions alongside Allyson Seeger. Platinum Dunes is also producing, and Sunday Night has a first-look deal with Paramount Pictures.
The franchise began with Krasinski’s 2018 film, which followed the Abbott family as they tried to survive in a world overrun by creatures that hunt through sound. The film became a major box office success, earning approximately $341 million worldwide against a reported $17 million budget. The 2021 sequel continued the Abbott family’s story and brought Emmett into the mix, earning approximately $297 million worldwide. Michael Sarnoski’s 2024 prequel, A Quiet Place: Day One, expanded the franchise with a story set during the initial alien invasion and went on to earn approximately $262 million globally.
