The Feast trailer: Welsh horror film to be released by IFC Midnight in November

IFC Midnight is set to give director Lee Haven Jones’ psychological horror film The Feast a theatrical and digital / VOD release on November 19th, and with exactly one month to go until we reach that date a trailer has arrived online. You can check it out in the embed above, and the poster art for The Feast can be seen below.

Written and produced by Roger Williams, The Feast is presented in the Welsh language and tells the story of

a young woman serving privileged guests at a dinner party in a remote house in rural Wales. The assembled guests do not realize they are about to eat their last supper.

The film stars Annes Elwy, Lisa Palfrey, Caroline Berry, Steffan Cennydd, and Sion Alun Davies.

The Feast (or Gwledd in Welsh) is quite unique, as there doesn’t seem to be very many Welsh-language movies in general, so there’s even less Welsh-language horror movies to choose from. Judging by the trailer, it appears to be a slow burner, but things clearly get very creepy, deadly, and gross along the way.

This movie had my attention as soon as I heard that it would be presented in Welsh, so I’ll be checking it out even though I suspect that it’s probably going to move a bit too slowly for my taste. The Feast has been earning positive reviews from screenings so far, but some of those reviews do say it moves at a crawl. Tom Beasley of Flickering Myth says, “Anybody willing to endure the methodical pace and studied weirdness of the first half will be treated to a cathartic final act which plays every card in the horror deck.”

How does The Feast look to you? How much patience do you have for slow burns? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
