The Flood: alligator horror film gets July theatrical and VOD release

Following in the tradition of fun “nature run amok” horror thrillers like Alligator, Crawl, and that black sheep known as Alligator II: The Mutation, director directed by Brandon Slagle (Attack of the Unknown) is set to bring us the “Crawl meets Assault on Precinct 13” mash-up The Flood – and Saban Films has announced (via Action-Flix) that they will be giving the film a theatrical, VOD, and digital release on July 14th!

Scripted by Chad Law (Daylight’s End) and Josh Ridgway (Howlers), The Flood will tell the following story: A horde of giant hungry alligators is unleashed on a group of in-transit prisoners and their guards after a massive hurricane floods Louisiana.

The film stars Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers), Nicky Whelan (Hall Pass), Louis Mandylor (Rambo: Last Blood), Devanny Pinn (Battle for Saipan), and Randy Wayne (Hellraiser: Judgment).

Daemon Hillin produced The Flood, with Amy Covell co-producing. The list of executive producers includes Mark Boot, Carolina Brasil, Matthew E. Chausse, Jordan Dykstra, Ryan Francis, Landon Gorman, Joseph Lanius, Kulthep Narula, Rachvin Narula, Joe Simpson, Ellen S. Wander, Simon Williams, and co-writer Chad Law. James Cullen Bressack is a co-executive producer, and so is Anselmo Martini.

That’s all the information we have on The Flood at this time, but with the release date just two months away we should be seeing a trailer very soon. In the meantime, there is a poster available, and you can check it out at the bottom of this article.

This definitely sounds like a movie I would like to watch, so I look forward to seeing the trailer for it. I’ll admit that I had to use Google to remember whether some previous “nature run amok” movies were about alligators or crocodiles, but either way they often end up being some decent entertainment. It looks like crocodiles get movies more often than alligators do, so it’s nice of The Flood to boost up the gators’ numbers a bit.
