The Forever Purge will have to wait as Universal pulls it from release

The Purge, The Forever Purge, Blumhouse

The destructive citizens of Universal-Blumhouse's The Purge franchise are going to have to find another outlet for their rage, as it's been announced that the next film in the franchise, THE FOREVER PURGE, has been undated.

Before getting pulled from release, THE FOREVER PURGE was scheduled to display its annual celebration of wanton destruction on the big screen this July 10. No word as to whether the film will move to a POV platform has been spoken.

Oddly enough, considering how close the film was to release, there remain no plot details for THE FOREVER PURGE. What we do know is that the movie was directed by Everado Gout and was based on a script by Purge franchise creator Jame DeMonaco. When and if the film is ever unleashed, the latest installment of the Purge film series stars Ana de la Reguera, Leven Rambin and Susie Abromeit, among others.

Earlier this week, it was also announced that USA Network had canceled THE PURGE television series after two seasons.

Could the Purge series be going away for good in light of the coronavirus crisis? Is it perhaps in poor taste to unleash such a project when everyday the world feels as if it's one step closer to declaring a real-life Purge-like event? Maybe, just maybe, a film or television series that depicts a celebration of sorts where for a 12-hour period, all crime, including murder, is legal in an altered America ruled by a totalitarian political party isn't what the world needs right now? I'm not judging, I'm just sayin'.
