“When Barbie and Ken bungle plans to stow away on a tropical excursion, Woody, Buzz & Co. re-create a romantic getaway in the toy box for a new six-minute short, Hawaiian Vacation, which will precede Cars 2 in theaters starting June 24. ”Woody becomes kind of like what’s-his-name on Love Boat … Captain Stubing!” says director Gary Rydstrom, who also helmed Pixar’s 2006 alien abduction short, Lifted. ”As toys who get played with all the time, they have a pretty good imagination,” Gary Rydstrom notes. ”When it’s time for a little playacting, they’re good at it.”
