Is Meghan Markle heading to Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen for her TV return?

Is Meghan Markle making a return to the small screen? According to sources, she could be teaming up with Guy Ritchie for a role in the filmmaker’s hit series, The Gentlemen. Industry whispers suggest Markle has had preliminary conversations with Ritchie about joining Season 3 of The Gentlemen, though talks are early and hypothetical.

Technically, The Gentlemen needs to get a Season 3 renewal before Markle can join the cast, so we’ll need to keep our eye on the numbers for Season 2, which debuts on Netflix on September 3, before it’s in the cards. Markle’s potential role has not yet been identified, though if she is returning to TV, a role in The Gentlemen would be a fantastic way to mark her grand return.

Crossing Back Over the Pond

Talk about Markle returning to television comes as she and Prince Harry make their way back to the U.K. after living in California for the past six years. Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have been enrolled in a British school and will start in September, according to reports. While mostly keeping their distance from royal family matters, the couple previously starred in the Netflix documentary series Harry & Meghan and in her lifestyle project With Love, Meghan. Additionally, Markle recently appeared as a guest on MasterChef Australia and filmed a cameo in the Amazon MGM Studios comedy Close Personal Friends.

What to Expect in The Gentlemen Season 2

In Season 2 of The Gentlemen, based on the world presented in Ritchie’s 2019 Miramax film, it’s been one year since Eddie (Theo James) and Susie (Kaya Scodelario) joined forces to work in Bobby’s (Ray Winstone) criminal empire overseas. As they drive to expand their enterprise, Bobby’s decision-making seems increasingly unsound. Now Eddie and Susie must decide whether to take action or risk losing it all, but unfettered ambition never ends well.

A High-Caliber Crime Drama

For fans needing a refresher on why the series made such an impression, JoBlo’s Alex Maidy noted in his review of Season 1: “Theo James is a solid lead and his chemistry with Kaya Scodelario keeps this series buzzing while Ray Winstone, Giancarlo Esposito, and Daniel Ings elevate the rest of the cast. On its own, The Gentlemen could be passed over as another run-of-the-mill import from across the pond when it is a solid blend of gangster drama with a wickedly violent sense of humor.”
