Well folks the highly-anticipated fifth season of “True Blood” has started. Don’t act like you didn’t know… last weekend “True Blood” talk was everywhere! With the second episode of the season set to air in just a couple days only now are we getting word on another addition to the Season 5 cast – and what an addition it is!
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed blog ‘Alcide’s’ dear-old-Dad ‘Jackson Herveaux’ will be making his debut this season in the form of the great Robert Patrick! Patrick (above) will first appear in a flashback episode that depicts Alcide and Debbie Pelt as teenagers in the 1980s. At the time, Jackson was said to be a “powerful, inspiring and heroic” guy, but in the present, he’s given up on life. Jackson, as a way to repay his father’s debt to Eric, also stands as the reason that Alcide first agreed to help Sookie search for Bill during Season 3. Patrick will make his debut as ‘Jackson’ in Episode 9 this season, which will be titled “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” and will air August 5th.
Thanks to a Japanese scientist’s invention of synthetic blood, vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. And while humans have been safely removed from the menu, many remain apprehensive about these creatures “coming out of the coffin.” Religious leaders and government officials around the world have chosen their sides, but in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, the jury is still out.

The season continues this Sunday only on HBO!
