I’m not certain we’ve touched on Axelle Carolyn’s THE HAUNTED before, although it has such a rote title I can’t help but feel it’s old news. Still, with the lovely Olga Kurylenko headlining an English haunted house yarn, what’s not to look forward to?

Also set to star Rupert Friend, THE HAUNTED commences after:

Recently widowed Audrey moves to a small village in the English countryside. She soon discovers the old house she is renting is not as empty as she thought… Her presence has awakened a spirit. Yet she decides to stay, and through the unusual friendship she strikes with the apparition, she begins getting over her grief. But is the ghost benign or malevolent? And is he real, or the product of her fractured mind?

Nice, a possibly benevolent specter. Not your typical horror trope, but one, if done right, is always welcome to my eyes. THE DEVIL’S BACKBONE comes to mind, DEATH NOTE to a lesser degree.

Currently in pre-production, THE HAUNTED has a targeted completion date of 2012. Standby as we learn more on the Intandem Films production.
