Howling III coming to Blu-ray for first time this January

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

In the realm of strange-ass horror sequels, one of the craziest is producer-director Phillip Mora's HOWLING III: MARSUPIALS (pre-order HERE). Not only is the film the only PG-13 rated entry in the series (and also the last film in the series to be theatrically released) but in this sequel, werewolves have evolved, with females having marsupial pouches to nurse their young. Okay… And that right there is one silly-ass premise. For real.

As strange as the film sounds, it's been on my must-see list for decades now and what better time than now to check it out. Or better yet, how about this January when Scream Factory brings the film to Blu-ray for the first time? Sounds good to me! Especially since Scream Factory will be giving the movie an all-new digital transfer and new bonus features including interviews and audio commentary with director Phillippe Mora.

Based on the novel The Howling III: Echoes (buy it HERE) by Gary Brandner, the movie follows this rather silly synopsis:

The race is on as a colony of marsupial werewolves attempts to outwit and outlast their human counterparts in the offbeat horror film. Long ago, the now-extinct marsupial wolf (a.k.a. Tasmanian Tiger) roamed the Australian Outback. Today, a werewolf colony that has descended from these marsupials has taken over the land. This race of human-like creatures roams the outback, feeding its need. The race for survival is on as the humans struggle to contain these out of control creatures.

If you're still interested in owning this film on Blu-ray, here is the full list of special features:

NEW Digital Transfer sponsored by the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia

Philippe Mora directs and produces the film from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Brandner based on his novel.
